The Microsoft 70-697 exam was introduced in September2015 as one of the two tests that led to the award of the MCSA: Windows 10 certification. The exam was designed forthe candidates working as Windows Device System Administrators or Windows Device Support Technicians. In addition to this, the individuals are required to manage updates and device authentication, and they include configuring Windows 10 delivery optimization and Windows Update for Business; deploying Windows updates; implementing feature updates; monitoring Windows 10 updates; managing sign-on options and authentication policies; and performing Azure AD join.

Managing Policies & Profiles: 35-40%

Under this objective, the candidates are required to schedule and implement co-management. Here, they should be good at implementingthe priority of co-management; migrating group policy to the MDM policies; and recommendinga co-management strategy. The examinees are also expected to implement compliance policies for devices &conditional access, which entails implementing, managing, and planning conditional access policies; implementing, managing, and planning device compliance policies. The students should also have the capacity to configure device profiles, which covers implementing, managing, and planning device profiles. They are required to learn how to operate user profiles, including configuration, Enterprise State Roaming in Azure Active Directory, sync settings, and implementing Folder Redirection, including OneDrive.

Operating& Protecting Devices: 15-20%

This objective covers the management of Windows defenders. This includes implementing and managing Credential Guard, Exploit Guard, Windows Defender Application Guard, and Advanced Threat Protection; integrating Windows Defender Application Control; and managing Windows Defender Antivirus. The candidates are also required to understand how to operate Intune device enrollment & inventory. This involves configuring enrollment settings and Intune automatic enrollment; enabling device enrollment; enrolling Windows and non-Windows devices; generating custom device inventory reports; and reviewing device inventory. They are also expected to develop competence in monitoring devices, which include monitoring device health, such as Windows Analytics, log analytics, or some other Cloud-based tools; as well as monitoring device security.

Managing Apps & Data: 25-30%

This objective requires the understanding of deploying and updating application and implementing mobile application management (MAM). The candidates need to learn how to assign applications to groups; gather Office readiness data; develop apps using Microsoft Store for Business and Intune; and configure the IE Enterprise mode and realize assigned access or some public devices. The applicants should also be equipped with the knowledge required toplan, implement, and manage MAM policies; configuring Windows Information Protection; implementing Azure Information Protection templates; and securing data with the use of Intune.
